A much more exciting topic, Mardi Gras, going on this week in New Orleans and around the United States has been on people’s minds.  Mardi Gras celebrates Fat Tuesday which is the final day before fasting for Lent.  What’s crazy is “mardi gras” actually means “fat tuesday” in French.  The infamous “Hurricane” beverage (traditional Mardia Gras favorite) has also been a hot search.  They really are tasty beverages and incredibly easy to make (or so I thought in college when it was basically a bunch of fruit juices and Everclear).  However, it appears the true recipe is quite elaborate….this is the true, New Orleans, rent a car bulgaria???????? ????? ????????Hurricane Recipe.

Waterboarding is holding a top ten position.  Don’t know why the topic is on people’s minds today as it isn’t anything new.  Sounds like it would be absolutely awful to me and I can see how it drives people crazy (but if it really gets confidential terrorist information then I don’t know how I can be against it).  Oh, and if you didn’t know it basically is strapping someone down and dripping water on their head for a long period of time.

During the game I kept discussing with other’s at the party I attended about how average the commercials were.  I’m surprised there are so many searches regarding the ad’s; I laughed at a few, thought a few were creative…..but overall, I was thinking “C’mon, this is the Super Bowl, the ad’s are better than the game a lot of the time”.  Loved the Victoria’s Secret ad, tho.  They never get old for me (and I just noticed the SI Swimsuit Issue will be out in a few weeks, NICE).  Oh yeah, Tom Petty kicked @$$ as well.

They say you learn something every day and today I learned that John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone.  He was born to two US citizens and within a few weeks of his birth he returned to the United States (had he stayed in Panama for over a year he would not be able to run for President).  You think that would be something we would have heard by now considering he ran in 2004 as well. 

Willie Nelson appears to be getting stranger and stranger in his old age (due to his “extra-curricular” activities I’m guessing).  He was quoted as saying the World Trade Center towers were imploded Vegas-casino style as a plot by the American Government.  The interview is full of wild quotes….Willie Nelson Interview.

Well that does it for today, expect tomorrow to be splattered with Super Tuesday searches.  Should be interesting to see if Panama J-Mac (ya like that…that nickname is all me) can wrap up the Republican bid.  The Obama-Clinton battle is almost assuredly going to continue til March regardless of tomorrow’s outcomes.

The smash-hit Lost returned to ABC last night.  I must say, the new episode was amazing and it does not surprise me that today’s search has included many Lost associations including Lost Blogs, Lost Ratings, Lost cast, and Hot Girl In Lost (to that I ask which one?!?).  Unfortunately, only eight episodes were created before the writer’s went on strike.  Enjoy it while it is here Lost fans because we may be seeing the last eight episodes of Lost ever.  Maybe they will finally be found….doubt it.

As I mentioned the other day, the temperatures here have been consistently in the the low teens and even dipping into the negatives at night.  It is needless to say that I am ecstatic that Saturday is Groundhog Day.  That little SOB better see his shadow because I am ready to get the golf clubs out.

Expect this weekend will be full of Super Bowl searches.  I hope the New York Giants can make it a football game as I have decided that my traditional wager will be placed on the Giants (Vegas is giving 12 points c’mon!).  Also, expecting the commercials to be searched extensively.  Look for the usual Budweiser ads as well as CareerBuilder.com, Cars.com, Coca-Cola, Frito-Lay, Garmin, GoDaddy.com (these are always entertaining), Kraft, Pepsi, Proctor & Gamble, Sales Genie and VICTORIA’S SECRET!!!!  I’m excited……GO G-MEN!

Tomorrow is National Wear Red Day.  By wearing red, we are apparently showing support for women’s heart disease awareness.  In October I raced for the cure with my mother and family (my grandmother passed away from breast cancer twelve years ago) and I think it is a wonderful cause and thought it was awesome to see all the support across the country (especially MLB players using pink baseball bats).  But now, as a man, I’m feeling a little left out.  How come women are getting all of these holidays and not us?  It is a known fact that we live shorter lives so where is the love for us dudes?  Anyways, wear red tomorrow it is for a great cause.

The coolest thing I saw in today’s search was people searching for Overbrook’s Annual Wing Bowl.  Tomorrow’s event, held in Philadelphia, expects the winner to eat well over 200 wings.  Kobayashi will be there, as well as our American Hero Joey Chestnut who beat the great Kobayashi at this past 4th of July hot dog eating contest.  The best part about it….tomorrow night is the number one night of the year for strip clubs in the Philly area.  I can’t really think of a better day, eat a couple hundred wings, go to the bathroom (the crappy part of the day….literally), then head off to the strip club.  The winner will undoubtedly “make it rain” on the finest night entertainment Philly has to offer.  Good luck gentleman!!!

Speaking of tours, Kanye West posted a popular entry on his blog today about his Glow in the Dark tour.  I remember when I was in a glow in the dark golf tournament back in 1986.  If you haven’t played night golf, I would highly recommend it, even if it’s the kind Danny Noonan learned about in Caddy Shack.  Really though, Mr. West said he will be joined by NERD, or N.E.R.D.  That must be some rap group I’ve never heard of.  Also joining Kanya will be Rihanna (I think named after a Fleetwood Mac hit) and Lupe Fiasco, I think named after a baseball pitcher incident in 1972.

Last of all, some big news coming in from the folks who might have stole an idea from one of my favorite Chevy Chase movies - Christmas Vacation.  Yes, the Mad River Rocket Company have taken extreme sledding to new heights, and it doesn’t even matter whether or not you have a metal plate in your head (Cousin Eddie).  My how sleds have changed since I was a kid.  Back then, it took sleds took longer to go down the hill then it did to walk them back up.  Maybe that’s how they named the company, ’cause they too were mad about slow sleds.  Or maybe, the founders were crazy mad, like Cramer from Mad Money.  Imagine him on a pocket rocket river sled whatchamacallit!  Let it snow…

Going camping anytime soon and think you still will need that fast food hamburger?  Try this Cheeseburger In A Can.  No…..don’t take a cooler with some meat and grill out your own burgers like everyone else.  This is the stupidest idea I have ever seen and I have no idea why it is has been such a hot topic.  Sorry……it has been a slow day in search. 

In sports today, people are asking themselves who the heck is Carlos Gomez?  The Minnesota Twins continued in their run of being the Player Development Whipping Boy for the large market ballclubs.  Today, they basically gave away Johan Santana to the New York Mets.  In return, the Twins received three below average pitching prospects (Phil Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra), and the prize of the bunch center fielder Carlos Gomez (who hit a wopping .232 with 2 homers and 12 RBIs in 58 appearances last year).  Johan Santana was quoted as saying, “The Twins can keep my two Cy Young awards as a consolation…I’ll be getting a World Series ring instead.” 

Anyways, it is -23 degree wind chill here and pretty much bitter cold so sorry for the poor attitude out of me today.  I did book a trip to Albuquerque, NM (don’t know why…just never been their) so am going to get to hit the little white ball in the near future!

Speaking of Google, have you checked out their homepage lego, I mean Logo this afternoon?  It is the 50th anniversary of Lego today, so Google is having a little fun with that.  My fondest memory of Lego was that TV commercial they used to run all the time where someome was pretending to toast and eat them.  Let go my Lego!  That company deserves a national holiday if anyone does.  Same with Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs…and maybe even the slinky.

Those Wicked, Wicked Lasers.  Let’s not try to sugarcoat this one, those lazers have been seriously naughty as of late.  Most recently, the folks who brought us the greenlaser and the bluraylaser have now created….wait for it….The Torch!  Yes, a great name it is…and aptly named for it’s ability to start a fire none the less.  Look what you can get for a penny under $300 at this address, but do it another day…cause this site is out of order on this one. One of my all time favorite movies, The Godfather, 3 is also a hot topic amongst today’s searchers.  Have no idea why and cannot seem to find it anywhere on the satellite dish so will continue searching for the answer.  Maybe a few of the actors got together for a large spaghetti and red wine dinner…wait that wouldn’t be news.

If your a golf fan then you were excited this week to see a star-studded field for this weekend’s Buick Invitational played at Torrey Pines (suburban San Diego).  However, if a down-to-the-wire finish is what you were hoping for then the disapointment set in quickly.  Tiger Woods put a beatdown on the field and won by 8 shots.  He tied Arnold Palmer on the all time PGA Tour win list with his 62nd.  Ryuji Imada shot the days best score (67) and won the most dramatic competition of the weekend…for second place.  If you haven’t yet noticed….Tiger Woods is pretty decent at golf.

What’s hot right now you ask?  Which are the most popular searches today?  Well, how about we start with the lingerie bowl. I’m guessing the next search is the result of some TV commercials that have been running today, although I have yet to see them.  The search is for nowwhat.com, not to be confusing with nowhat.com or whatnow.com.  My best guess is this site has something to do with State Farm insurance trying to get you to fill out some information and get a quote for their insurance.  I just did some more research on the site and found the following note here:

State Farm is strategically approaching their audience this way on purpose.  Created by the advertising agency DDB, they know that just because Generation Y is young, doesn’t mean they are stupid.  Just the opposite, Generation Y can’t stand being sold to or talked down to or marketed to or any of that crap.  Marketers have to be smart to target Generation Y.  They were raised not just on technology but also on branding, they know all the tricks and see a scam a mile away.

No other big standouts in search at this time.  Several people are trying to find out if the discovery of human remains in Chicago is related to the highly publicized case of missing person Stacy, or Stacey Peterson.  From what I’ve read, it does not appear to be the case.  I also believe another version of Rambo hit theaters this weekend, and people are searching for things like “how old is sylvester stallone?” and is it Rambo 3, Rambo 4, or Rambo 5.  Who really knows? iPhoneGuiter is another big hit today, so iphone drums, iphone keyboards, and et-iphone home should be just around the bend.  See you back here on Sunday!

Dan Gable was another hot topic of the day.  ESPN.com featured an article discussing sporting greats who came close to perfection but lost near the end of their runs.  The New England Patriots are attempting to complete a perfect season in the Super Bowl next Sunday against the New York football Giants.  Being a huge Packer fan, I really would like to boycott the Super Bowl altogether as I can’t root for the Giants but I also hate the Patriots.  It looks like I will have to place a large bet in order to give a dang about the result.

Brody Jenner has a new girlfriend and it isn’t Lauren from MTV’s popular series The Hills.  Her name, Cara Skinner, her job…being absolutely gorgeous.  Jenner is a famous male model and the son of Olympic gold medal winning tri-athlete Bruce Jenner.  Brody has made many appearances on The Hills and it appeared he was destined for the show’s star (Lauren).  Looks like an upgrade to me!
