Best Diets For 2008The second day of 2008 brought us an interesting surprise in search.  Twelve of the top thirty searches for the day involved clothing brands and stores with the majority being women’s designer clothing.  The brand Akris alone held the number one and three positions while others like Marshall Fields, J and Company, Michael Kors, Donna Karan and Elie Tahari rounded out the top thirty.

Guessing most of these searches happened after Oprah mentioned these specific brands today.

The upcoming Iowa Caucuses were the biggest news story of the day as many are wondering who will be favored in the first caucus (Thursday, January 3rd).  Current projections have Barack Obama leading the democrats (32%) followed by Hillary Clinton (25%) and John Edwards (24%).  On the republican side Mike Huckabee (32%) enjoys the lead over Mitt Romney (13%), Ron Paul (9%) and Fred Thompson (9%).

Other heavy searches were sports related.  Fiesta Bowl searches were not surprising as the game between Oklahoma and West Virginia is getting ready to kick off in the next hour down in Tempe, Arizona.  Other sports searches involved the upcoming NFL playoffs and also inquiries about possible NFL coach firings and hires.

Finally, still quite a few searches for dieting, exercising and how to get into better shape.  Everyone is looking to get a start on those New Year resolutions it appears!
